How to Create an Events API TikTok Pixel

Introduction

This guide walks you through the steps for creating an Events API TikTok Pixel and connecting it to your Shopify store using TiXel. This setup allows for more accurate and server-side event tracking.

Note: If your TikTok Ads Dashboard looks different from the screenshots in this guide, follow the alternative guide


Before You Begin: Please be sure that you are logged-in to the TikTok Ads Manager as the account owner. Less-privileged accounts will receive an error when trying to connect the pixel with TiXel.


Important: Please make sure that the native TikTok Sales Channel is not installed in your store, as it may collide with TiXel's functionality.


  1. Open the TikTok Ads Dashboard.



  1. Hover your mouse over Tools in the top nav and click Events.



  1. Click Connect Data Source (top right).



  1. Select Web and click Next.



  1. Enter your Store's URL and click Next.



  1. Choose Manual Setup and click Next.



  1. Choose Events API and click Next.


  1. Give your pixel a unique name, then click Create.


  1. Click Next without making changes.


  1. Copy the Pixel ID.


  1. Go to TiXel in your Shopify admin and paste the Pixel ID.


  1. Return to TikTok Ads Manager and click Generate Access Token. Copy the token.


  1. Go back to TiXel and paste the token in the Events API Access Token field.


  1. Enter a name for your pixel and click Add Pixel.


  1. In TikTok Ads Manager, click Next, then Finish.
