# How to Create a Legacy TikTok Pixel

## Introduction  
This guide walks you through the steps for creating a **Legacy TikTok Pixel** and connecting it to your Shopify store using **TiXel**.

## Step-by-Step Instructions

| **Important:** Please make sure that the native __TikTok Sales Channel is not installed in your store__, as it may collide with TiXel's functionality.

1. Open the [TikTok Ads Dashboard](https://ads.tiktok.com/i18n/home).

2. Hover your mouse over **Tools** in the top nav and click **Events**.

3. Click **Connect Data Source**.

4. In the pop-up, select **Web**, then click **Next**.

5. Click **Skip**.

6. Select **Manual Setup**, then click **Next**.

7. Choose **TikTok Pixel** only (do **not** select both TikTok Pixel and Events API), then click **Next**.

8. Enter a unique **name** for your pixel and click **Create**.

9. Click **Copy Code**.

10. In **TiXel’s dashboard** in your Shopify admin, paste the code in the **Pixel Code** field.

11. Give the pixel a name, then click **Add Pixel**.

12. A pop-up will appear — click **Copy Code**, then click **Continue Setup**.

13. A second pop-up will appear — click **Click Here** to open a new window.  
    * Follow the steps shown: click **Add Custom Pixel**, give it a name (e.g. Pixel ID), then click **Next Step**.

14. A third pop-up will appear:  
    * Paste the previously copied code into the window that opened.  
    * Click **Save**, then click **Connect**.  
    * Go back to the third pop-up and click **I’ve Added the Custom Pixel**.

15. TiXel will now begin triggering the events for you. 🎉

16. Back in TikTok Ads Manager, click **Next**.

17. Toggle **Automatic Advanced Matching** to **OFF**, then click **Next**.

18. Click **Next** again without making any changes.

19. On the final screen, click **Finish**.
