# How to Add the Gift Message to the Invoice/Packing Slip (Using Shopify Order Printer)

## Introduction

If you're using **Super Gift Options**, you can display your customer's **Gift Message** on your invoices or packing slips using Shopify's **Order Printer** app.

This guide walks you through installing the Order Printer app, updating your template, and displaying gift option details on printed documents. [+1]

## Requirement

Before you begin, make sure you have one of the following:

* The **Shopify Order Printer** app is installed (this guide uses it).
* Or Shopify's **built-in packing slip template**. The Order Printer app isn't mandatory: the built-in packing slip template also accepts Liquid, so you can paste the same code below into it. You can find it in your Shopify Admin under **Settings** > **Shipping and delivery** > **Packing slips**.

## Add Gift Message to Your Invoice/Packing Slip

Follow these steps to display a gift Message on your printed documents:

1. **Open the Order Printer app** from your Shopify Admin.

2. Navigate to the **Templates** section.

5. Paste the following code into the location where you want the gift message to appear:

    {% if order.attributes["Gift Wrap"] %}

    {% if order.attributes["Gift Receipt"] %}
      <u>Gift Receipt:</u> {{ order.attributes["Gift Receipt"] }}<br/>

6. Click on **Save** after adding the code.

> **Tip:** The **From** and **To** names are saved on the order under the label names set in the app. If you changed those labels (for example to "Sender" and "Recipient"), replace `"From"` and `"To"` in the code above with your exact labels, otherwise they won't appear on the printed document.

7. Open an order that includes a gift message or other gift options, then click **Preview** in the Order Printer app. 

You should now see the customer's selected **Gift Message** displayed on the invoice or packing slip.
